Ongkharak Plant Market

Decorative Plant Centre
Along Khlong 15 in Ongkharak District is the country’s largest plant-breeding centre that cultivates small and large sized plants for sale across the kingdom and in foreign countries.
From a sideline to a main job, in the past, villagers living in the area of Khlong 15, Ongkharak District, NakhonNayok, earned their living as farmers. Later, they learnt to develop the rice fields into decorative plant farms and expand the plantation of a wide range of flowers that flourish on both side of the Khlong 15 road. The farmers have created a new livelihood that earns them income they can depend on. In winter, flowers boom and the decorative plants flourish, turning the road into a sea of colour stretching over 8 kilometres. The Decorative Plant Centre is pure agro-tourism and was chosen as a tourism resort under the Unseen Thailand project for a new look at life, tradition and culture.
The centre has become a popular tourist destination, for it has become the road of happiness in NakhonNayok that tourists must stop at before moving on to other destinations.

The outstanding point of the Decorative Plant Centre is that it gathers all flowers and decorative plants. It is the biggest plant breeding centre, selling flowers, decorative plants, bonsai or dwarf ornamental plants in pots and garden equipment wholesale. Shop owners from every region of the country come here to buy plants for sale elsewhere. Tourists who are fascinated by beautiful colourful flowers should not miss dropping by to purchase plants that can beautify their home and freshen the garden. They can also choose plants, believed to bring prosperity and happiness, as presents for their loved ones.

Green thumbs at plants market in nakhonnayok

At Klong 15 in NakhonNayok Province, people who love trees and aspiring gardeners spend hours admiring the beautiful blooms, talking to the sellers and taking many plants back to decorate their gardens. Klong 15 is a part of the historic Rangsit-NakhonNayok irrigation system made in the era of King Chulalongkorn. In 1890, the King ordered 17 canals dug from the mouth of the Chao Phya in PathumThani province, all the way east towards NakhonNayok. This allowed rainwater to flow from the Bantad range down to the rich soil of NakhonNayok. People will tell you that driving along the road along the Rangsit Canal is like revisiting the past. The area used to be home to endless rice paddies and orange orchards. Oranges from Rangsit used to be the best in the country, while rice, especially jasmine rice, used to be widely grown here as well.

But today's Rangsit is a very different place. There are fewer rice paddies and orchards, more factories, housing estates, schools and universities. But people still come to shop for trees and ornamental plants at wholesale prices. The trees are brought in from the surrounding provinces, such as SuphanBuri, Ayutthaya and PrachinBuri. If you drive up on the Eastern Ring Motorway (Bang Pa-in-Bang Na), get off at the ThanyaBuri (or Rangsit-NakhonNayok) exit, and continue east towards NakhonNayok province. The road will take you past each canal, all of which are indicated by small signs. Shortly after the sign welcoming you to NakhonNayok is the turn-off for Klong 15. Covering more than 1,000 rai, the flowering and ornamental plants market at Klong 15 is a wholesale resource for those who love trees and gardens. From the the entrance, you will see plant shops lining the road. The market stretches for seven kilometres, with shops selling everything you can imagine, from flowering plants of all kinds to decorative plants and garden accessories that you might want to add into your garden design.

RungfaWongchaikul, a professional garden designer, visits here at least once a month to stock up on wholesale plants. She says the prices are cheaper than at Chatuchak and other Bangkok markets. However, she advises that shoppers should study the prices and types of the plants in advance because it is quite easy to be overwhelmed with the large selection. It is better to take the time and walk through each shop with some knowledge about some trees in your head, says Rung. First you should know the nature of the trees and the market prices for some plants here can be more expensive than other places as well. Klong 15 is not the only place you can go if you are about to revamp your garden. Starting from Klong 6, various plants, including big trees such as wild palms, rain trees, Burmese ebony, cork tree, and yellow cotton tree are available.

Wasallam.

PROJEK ODOP....DI TEMPAT KITA SDSI NAMANYA....
SDSI DI ONGKHARAK ... LUAS KAWASANNYA...
PELBAGAI TUMBUHAN...BESAR PASARANNYA...
MEREKA BANGGA...BANYAK LAGI PROJEKNYA....
